Role Summary:

The Copywriter is responsible for developing communications that educate, align, and inspire frontline airport employees from Alaska Airlines (AS), Horizon Air (QX), and business partners. As an individual contributor, this role develops solutions to clearly and effectively communicate policies, business processes, and strategic initiatives for Airport Operations and Customers Service (AOCS) in a way that connects with station teams.

Key Duties:
  • With limited direction, work independently with internal AOCS stakeholders to partner, strategize, and advise on the best approach to communicate policy & procedure, workgroup-specific projects, and company initiatives while prioritizing urgent operationally driven requests.
  • Write clear, concise, and compelling content that engages, inspires, and motivates people to take action.
  • Network with subject matter experts to translate technical copy into engaging and easily to understand communications.
  • Create end-to-end engaging communications to help employees understand and connect the dots between polices, processes, and company strategies and their day-to-day work.
  • Apply industry methodologies to develop and distribute effective multi-channel communications that are inclusive and understandable to diverse audiences.
  • Produce captivating content in a variety of formats to support the needs of the frontline employee groups (e.g., graphic design, image editing, video production, gamification, etc.).
  • With a close eye for detail, ensure content is verified for accuracy and signed off by the key stakeholders before publication.
  • Make recommendations on improvements to communications processes, using data to assess the effectiveness of communications.
  • Assist in key initiative communication planning and internal change management efforts.
  • Partner with Corporate Communication peers and cross-divisional workgroups to ensure alignment and consistency in content and communications.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:

Required

  • 2 years of experience in communications and copywriting.
  • Bachelors degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Process and detail-oriented with the ability to interpret, develop, and articulate efficient policies and procedures for frontline functions.
  • Team player capable of cross-functional collaboration, and able to work independently and take initiative.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal; equally comfortable presenting in-person and to remote audiences.
  • Deep interest in adapting & evolving content strategy based on data & analytics.
  • Desire to utilize new software or tools to create engaging and dynamic content.
  • Accomplished at adapting content to suit different audiences.
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, often to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to write, edit and post written and digital content, including graphics and video production.
  • Willingness to jump in on an array of projects as requested; eager to learn new skills.
  • Be able to work at a fast pace, ensuring content is grammatically correct.
  • A keen eye and top-notch proofreading skills are a must.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Graphic design experience.

Salary Range:
$64,950 --- $97,450 / year

Salary Details:

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We dont typically hire at the top of the range.
