Position Summary Information
Position Purpose
The Social Media Manager implements university social media strategy and leads the creation, posting, and scheduling of content across Commonwealth University flagship social media accounts along with campus-specific flagships at the Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, Mansfield, and Clearfield campuses.
The position is preferably based out of the CU-Lock Haven campus to provide coverage of campus events at that location. Other CU locations may be considered for the home campus. Remote work up to three days per week is available.
This is a temporary, one-year appointment with the potential for permanent renewal after year one.
Description of Duties
Decision Making
The Social Media Manager will determine assets, copy, and timing of content posted across university and campus flagship accounts. The position also determines responses to general comments or messages to the flagship social accounts. Responses related to controversial or sensitive topics should be developed in collaboration with division and/or university leadership. University and campus-specific social media strategy is developed in partnership with Senior Director of University Marketing and Brand Management.
Fiscal Responsibility
This position is responsible for stewardship of social media related budget items, as developed with the leadership team. The position may be responsible for implementing in-platform social media marketing campaign funds.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position may oversee student employees, interns, and graduate assistants.

Background Clearances
Offers of employment are conditional, pending successful completion of the background clearances mandated by Act 153 of 2014 and Board of Governors Policy 2014-01-A: Protection of Minors. In order to qualify for a provisional appointment, the Applicant Acknowledgement Consent Form, Provisional Hire Form, Pennsylvania State Police and Justifacts portion of the clearance process must be successfully completed prior to your start date. The remaining PA Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Clearance must be successfully completed and returned as soon as possible within the first 90 days of employment.
