Florence Copper is a wholly owned subsidiary of Taseko Mines Limited which is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Taseko is also the operator and 75% owner of the Gibraltar copper/molybdenum mine in Canada and various other development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
We are looking for operators at our Florence, Arizona site. Under the general direction of a Shift Supervisor, the Operators perform all tasks involved in the production of copper at the Florence Copper facilities. The Operators follow standard work procedures and safe work practices to ensure safe and efficient copper production. They are responsible to monitor process equipment to ensure the quality, efficiency, and safety of the processing plant. Operators are also responsible for plant operations safety, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting of the facilities equipment and instruments.
Note: These are entry level positions that may lead to permanent positions once fully permitted and construction phase begins and depending upon work performance, attendance, and other work intangibles.
Specific Responsibilities include:
• Observe safety rules and procedures. Perform inspections of process plant and well fields for hazards, damage, defects and take corrective action.
• Monitor, operate, troubleshoot, and perform repairs to process operating equipment.
• Perform quality testing and inspections.
• Accurately enter production data into computer data bases.
• Identify and report equipment for maintenance based upon troubleshooting or maintenance schedules.
• Sampling and lab testing of process solutions and cathodes.
• Complete work orders and log work as may be required.
• Responsible for carrying-out and documenting pre-operational checks.
• Work independently or as part of a team to complete tasks and projects.
• Assist other staff members or operations employees as may be required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Professional Experience / Qualifications:
• Prior experience in a process, manufacturing, or metal environment. SXEW and/or well field/water treatment experience is a plus.
• Ability to operate mobile equipment i.e., forklift, light trucks, bobcat.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal communications.
• Ability to read and comprehend operating and technical documents.
• Ability to work conscientiously with attention to detail.
• Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
• Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, climbing stairs/ladders, crawling, etc.
• Willing to work rotating shifts.
Work Environment:
• This position will consist of work that will be performed in all-weather conditions both outdoors, and in a plant setting.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must work in compliance with the Florence Copper (OSHA) site safety program.
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in the plant environment.
• This will be a 24/7/365 operation, and the successful candidate for this position will be required to work rotating shifts.
